We are a social and friendly club that meets each Monday (with the exception of Bank Holidays) at the Quality Grand Hotel, Trinity Street, Hanley in Stoke- on Trent.
The Rotary Club of Stoke-On-Trent inaugural meeting was held on 31st January 1927. Our Charter from Rotary International was signed on 22nd February 1927.
The first president was Major Frank Wedgwood, a member of the famous pottery manufacturing family.
However the person largely responsible for the inauguration of the Club was Albert E. Gray of Gray's Pottery, who became the first Vice-President.
The Club, made up of members from various business and professional vocations active within the City, has always worked to the aims and objectives of Rotary International whose motto is 'SERVICE ABOVE SELF '
During the Club's 80 years of existence, its members have continuously devoted their time and energy in promoting fellowship and service to the community and in raising funds for local, national and international charities.
At present Rotary International's main campaign is to achieve the eradication of Polio throughout the world.
